This is about access to the soul of India, and to return that privilege with a gift. Travelling with a large format printer means we can present photos to the people at the conclusion of each stay. That ritual in itself will be a wondrous event. The Gift is for empathetic photographers - both amateur and professional - who will value the interchange and the opportunity to experience another world, not as a voyeur but as a participant in a delightful cultural exchange. Adopting a collegiate atmosphere, photographers will share experience and techniques with each other, while enjoying the valuable insights from our tour facilitator and our regional photographers. The Gift seeks to redesign the possibilities of a photographic workshop, to expand its horizons and replace the 'taking' of an image with the 'giving' of an image. At the end, each photographer will present the images they most love for the creation of a photographic book, copies of which will go to everyone involved, not least to the subjects of the study, but also to the photographers themselves. If this tour is successful, the greatest memory will be in the eyes and smiles of the people we meet. The prize will be in the love and joy that is shared.
