1 - 15 September, 2024

The Craic will be an event of passion, emotion, music and heritage. The emphasis, in true Irish traditon, will be on singing with others in the spirit of joy and comararderie.

We will move slowly, singing as we go, under the musical and cultural directorship of Jack Harrison, a man for whom the Celtic tradition and Irish story is second nature.

We will sing in pubs, with Irish musicians, in places of ancient resonance and of natural beauty.

This will be the CRAIC!

This is a journey for singers, adventurous travellers and lovers of music & the celtic tradition

Jack Harrison is not just a man of many talents, but of many extraordinary accomplishments and passions as well.

He is an accomplished musician, singer and recording artist who sang for several years with Ireland’s pre-eminent folk and sea-shanty singer Liam Clancy. Jack has recorded six music albums including two specialising in Sea Shanties and one of his own songs with themes based on various elements of Irish heritage.

As a folklorist and archaeologist he is a pioneer in the study and application of Heritage Interpretation in Ireland and his work has taken him to historical and archaeological sites all over Ireland. He was lecturer in Heritage Interpretation at the National University of Ireland, Galway for over 20 years. His recent audio visual of the Battle of the Boyne won Best International Historical Documentary at the New York International Independent Film Festival and he has recently completed the JFK Homestead Museum.

As a teacher of yoga and meditation Jack has integrated these paths, together with his knowledge of Irish folklore and heritage, into the Celtic School of Yoga. He is a principal author of a seminal book on the parallels between yoga and the Celtic world and he has recorded three acclaimed albums of yoga music.

This is the man who will lead The Craic, a program that has evolved during the forced delays of covid and the disruption of the Ukraine War, into the most authentic version of itself, namely a beautiful way to travel Ireland using the music of its people and culture. Jack Harrison will lead that journey with an unparalleled depth of knowledge of this fascinating country, allowing the spirit of place to connect thru music while introducing different musicians with whom we will collaborate.
